Day Trip Culinary Options to Try on Oahu

You could spend several weeks in Honolulu exploring all of the potential culinary options to enjoy. It is one of the best ways to spend your time on the island!

When you are ready to break out of the city for a while, several day trips are worth considering because of the various cafés and restaurants you can find around the island.

Here are the best day trip culinary options to try when you spend time on Oahu.

Seven Brothers At the Mill

This informal restaurant in Kahuku servers seafood, burgers, and plenty of comfort food options. The place started as a mom-and-pop diner in 2009 with a family who had no formal industry training, but they did have a desire to share their take on food. They use organic greens, handmade onion rings, and the freshest ingredients sourced from the island.

Lei Lei’s Bar and Grill

Travel up to the north shore to find this open-air Hawaiian restaurant within the Turtle Bay Resort. You can get oyster shots, a calamari steak, or seared ahi sashimi without going crazy over-budget. If you decide to splurge a little, consider getting the fresh ahi platter that gives you seared, sashimi, and poke versions. The local plate of the day is always an excellent decision if you can’t make up your mind!

Banzai Bowls Sunset Beach

You’ll find this little spot in Haleiwa right across the road from Sunset Beach Park. You’ll find an excellent selection of smoothies and bowls that feel refreshing after a hot day. Grab the Log Cabins to get a blend of pineapple or apple juice, banana, pitaya, and strawberries topped with honey, granola, and banana slices. Another option is to grab the Brooks Street with pomegranate juice strawberries, mango, bananas, and pitaya. You can also get some organic coffee if you need a pick-me-up!

The Beet Box Café

You can find an organic vegetarian breakfast available all day at this location in Haleiwa. You can also grab some supplies to make meals back in Honolulu in the evening. You’ll find plenty of fresh, raw ingredients on the menu, some baked goods, fresh juices, and acai bowls. Weekend specials are a lot of fun for those brave enough to experiment, while the Jasmine Pearl Tea is a product you’ll adore.

Kahumana Organic Farms and Café

This gorgeous spot is in Waianae, well off the beaten path. It gives you the feeling of home upon arrival, providing a farm-to-table experience using certified organic ingredients grown right on the property. The entire facility is a non-profit business that offers several different programs, including job opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities. The macadamia nut pesto pasta is incredible, and you must try the coconut dahl lentil curry at least once.

You can find plenty of excellent cafés and restaurants throughout Oahu to enjoy. When you decide to stay in Honolulu to experience everything that Hawaii offers, remember to add these destinations to your list!
